Who Are We?
Urban Image Design / Build is a company made up of a team of experienced sign industry professionals. This group consists of industry Graphic Designers, Production Managers and Project Managers. As a group we can offer you either Design or Design / Build assistance for your projects.
We do not manufacture any signage products ourselves. What we do is draw upon our vast resources and industry knowledge to source each component of a signage project from those few companies that actually are specialists in each particular field of the industry. No, one, traditional sign company is able to provide a top level of quality and workmanship in all facets of the signage industry completely in-house. In fact the majority of the traditional sign companies subcontract out large portions of their work as a normal course of business.
Some people may refer to us as brokers, and may suggest that this is a negative thing. We prefer to look at it as using our expertise and the available resources that exist in the market place today to provide a quality product that with normal maintenance, will look as good in 10 years as it does the day that it is installed.
If we look around us in our day to day life we all use ‘brokers’ of one kind or another. Whether it be the travel agent that books our airline tickets, the insurance office that provides our home, auto and life insurances, or maybe even the mortgage broker to finance our new home purchase. This route may provide cost benefits but also provides convenience and the most compatible product for your needs without creating a burden upon your own staff to manage the project.

Entrepreneur's diminishing light-bulb-changing business prompts change of plan: converting customers to energy-saving LED technology Like all good entrepreneurs, Chris Jordon is a survivor. When circumstance forced him to reinvent his sign manufacturing career of a quarter century, Jordon turned his industry upside down and sideways to find a new niche. Last year, he started 1-888-Burnt-Out, a sign service company whose technicians show up in uniform, well-trained, and at times convenient to business even if that means starting work at 2: 30 a.m. The last four or five months have been tough on Jordon's fledgling business. "My business model of cleancut uniformed guys has certainly been well received," Jordon said. "What hasn't worked is it's been uncertain economic times. There's something going on out there. People just go 'I don't have the $500 to fix my sign right now.' People are holding on tight to their wallets. I would say small businesses are having a very uncertain time out there." |

Our last blog entry spoke to the subject of 1-888-burnt-out? securing the distribution rights in B.C. for the LED retrofit panels manufactured by Bare Developments Inc. This week we are ecstatic to announce that we have entered into a contract with Richport Ford in the Richmond Auto Mallto convert all of their energy guzzling parking lot lighting to these new energy efficient LED panels. The beauty of this product is that it seamlessly fits into the existing fixture heads on site, eliminating the need and costs of purchasing entirely new LED fixtures and allows this conversion to make good sense from a financial perspective.
